How to Play Dragon Tower

Updated 6 min readComplete guide

Dragon Tower is a 9-floor tower with three dragon eggs on each level. One egg is safe. Pick it and climb — pick wrong and the round is over. Every floor cleared multiplies your winnings. Cash out whenever you're ready.

Each floor gives you a 1-in-3 shot. Get lucky and your multiplier keeps climbing. Decide floor by floor whether the growing reward is worth one more 33% chance of losing everything.

What is Dragon Tower?

Dragon Tower is a nine-floor climbing game where each floor presents three dragon eggs. Exactly one egg on every floor is safe — the others are dangerous. Your job is to pick the right one, floor by floor, and climb as high as you dare before cashing out.

Every floor you clear, your multiplier grows. Cash out at any point after a successful pick and walk away with your current multiplier applied to your bet. Get to the top of all 9 floors and you earn the maximum payout. But picking a bad egg at any point ends the round and loses your bet.

The game is entirely session-based — your progress is saved, so if you need to step away after clearing a few floors, your run will be waiting when you come back.

How to play, step by step

  1. Place your bet — choose how many chips to wager for the run.
  2. Floor 1: pick an egg — three eggs are presented. Click one. If it's safe, you advance to floor 2 and your multiplier increases.
  3. Cash out or continue — after each safe floor, you have the option to cash out and collect your current multiplier, or continue climbing to the next floor.
  4. Repeat — pick one egg per floor. Safe = climb. Wrong = round over, bet lost.
  5. Final floor — clear all 9 floors for the maximum multiplier. After the 9th floor there's nowhere left to climb, so your winnings are paid automatically.

Once you pick an egg and it's a bad one, that's it — there's no undo, no second chance, and your entire bet is gone. Think before you click.

The probability — what you're actually up against

Each floor is an independent 1-in-3 chance. One egg is safe, two are dangerous. That means each floor has a 33.3% chance of losing and a 66.7% chance of surviving.

The probability of reaching a given floor by getting every pick right compounds quickly:

Floor reachedPicks neededProbability
Floor 1 (first pick)11 in 3 (33.3%)
Floor 22 correct1 in 9 (11.1%)
Floor 33 correct1 in 27 (3.7%)
Floor 55 correct1 in 243 (0.4%)
Floor 9 (top)9 correct1 in 19,683 (0.005%)

Reaching the top of all 9 floors requires getting 9 consecutive 1-in-3 picks right — roughly a 0.005% chance per run. The multiplier at the top reflects that rarity.

How multipliers grow

Multipliers are calculated from the probability of surviving to that point, adjusted for the house edge. The further you climb, the more the odds have stacked against you — and the more you're rewarded for surviving.

After floor 1Roughly 1.3–1.5× your bet. A small reward for the first correct pick.
After floor 3Around 3–4× your bet. You've beaten 3.7% odds — the multiplier reflects it.
After floor 5Approximately 10–15× your bet. This is where sessions start feeling significant.
All 9 floors clearedThe maximum payout — potentially hundreds of times your bet for beating 1-in-19,683 odds.

Exact multiplier values are shown live in the game interface after each successful floor. The displayed value is always your current guaranteed payout if you cash out now.

Strategy tips

Set a target floor before you startDecide in advance which floor you'll cash out on if you reach it — floor 3, floor 5, whatever. Stick to it. The temptation to go "just one more" is where most runs end badly.
Floors 3–5 is the sweet spot for most playersClearing 3 floors pays a meaningful multiplier (roughly 3–4×) with odds that aren't completely prohibitive (1 in 27). Floor 5 at ~15× is rare enough to celebrate.
The higher you go, the steeper the fallLosing on floor 8 after 7 correct picks hurts more than losing on floor 2 — but mathematically it's the same 1-in-3 on every floor. Past floors don't protect you.
There's no pattern to readEgg positions are random and provably fair. The left egg is no safer than the right egg. Pick whatever you like — it's 1-in-3 every time.

FAQ

Can I cash out after just one floor?

Yes. After clearing floor 1 and seeing your updated multiplier, you can immediately cash out. You don't have to continue.

What happens if I close the game mid-run?

Your session is saved. When you come back to Dragon Tower, your active run will still be on whichever floor you left it.

Is the safe egg position provably fair?

Yes. Safe positions for all 9 floors are determined before the round starts using a server seed and your client seed. After the round ends, you can verify the result.

Does clearing one floor make the next floor easier?

No. Each floor is always a 1-in-3 independent pick. Past successes don't improve future odds.

What's the payout for clearing all 9 floors?

The exact top-floor multiplier is calculated from the combined probability of 9 correct picks (1 in 19,683) adjusted for the house edge. It's displayed live in the game once you reach the final floor.
